Cross-collaboration between EDA tools is essential to developing new flows and solutions in the EDA industry, because no one company can provide all the solutions needed to address the requirements of today’s ICs. To better enable and support high-frequency design, Siemens EDA collaborated with Lorentz Solution, Inc. to integrate the Calibre nmLVS tool with Lorentz PeakView products, using the Calibre Connectivity interface. In this DAC presentation video, Carey Robertson of Siemens EDA and Lin Zhou of Lorentz Solution, Inc. present the details of this integration and how the various tools address specific issues in high-frequency design.

Improving high-frequency IC and 3D IC EM design flows

High-frequency design verification includes the evaluation of electromagnetic (EM) behavior of critical signal paths in high-speed designs. The Lorentz PeakView electromagnetic (EM) IC design platform provides full coverage for IC/3DIC EM design flows. The Calibre nmLVS tool not only provides standalone layout vs. schematic (LVS) verification, but also provides access to downstream capabilities such as parasitic extraction and reliability verification. Together, the tools create a high-frequency design flow that delivers ease of use in the design environment, and enables IC and 3D IC designers to develop post-layout solutions that are correlated with source/schematic names, devices, and hierarchy.
