A model of smart building sustainability

New York‘s Javits Center, the nation’s busiest convention center.

New York‘s Javits Center, the nation’s busiest convention center, is now also a demonstration showcase for how a traditional convention center can transform into a sustainable, resilient, smart building. With a 3.3M square foot campus, the Javits Center is a major power consumer, which is why the New York Power Authority (NYPA) sought ways to offset the facility’s considerable electricity needs while advancing the clean energy goals of the state and city. To accomplish this, the Javits Center worked with Siemens on the 906.3 kW solar energy project, to provide energy storage and software for managing the solar panels and new Javits Center microgrid.
