Qingdao ALP Automation and Control System Co., Ltd (ALP Controls) was founded in 2010 and maintains a respected reputation among its clients in the consumer products and retail and electronics and semiconductor industries. In 2018, the company received the Siemens Digital Industries Software Greater China Most Valuable Service Partner title. Additionally, it received Siemens’ Expert Partner status for its manufacturing execution system (MES) intelligent manufacturing expertise in 2019.

ALP Controls specializes in Siemens’ Opcenter™ software, a manufacturing operations management (MOM) solution. Opcenter is part of the Siemens Xcelerator business platform of software, hardware and services. ALP Controls uses the software to enable its customers to implement digitalization strategies and combine production efficiency with production visibility to optimize processes and significantly reduce time-to-market.

Using Opcenter enables the company to identify weaknesses in design and manufacturing processes. Further, ALP Controls uses Opcenter Execution Process to help clients address quality control, poor system integration and real-time data visibility. ALP Controls demonstrates the tangible benefits of digitalizing information sharing processes to accelerate data collection and improve decision making during production.

Expert Partner status can improve credibility

ALP Controls’ prospects have become increasingly specialized. Therefore, digitalization solution providers like ALP Controls need dedicated, industry-specific technical teams to attract them and meet their unique needs.

ALP Controls believes that achieving Siemens’ Expert Partner status helps them increase their trustworthiness and build influence. Siemens’ product portfolios are widely recognized among customers,” states Huo Xingguo, deputy general manager at ALP Controls. “Partners who hold specializations always have a good reputation in their business delivery and implementation capacity.” This achievement also promoted recognition of their Opcenter expertise and capabilities among their prospective clients. “Reaching Expert Partner status helps us gain trust from customers,” Xingguo continues.

Li Weiguo, general manager of ALP Controls, says, “specializing in Siemens’ software helped us build a strong technical support platform that enables us to uplift the technical skills of our staff and empowers us to attract more industry-leading customers.”

Supporting digitalization of paper records

A Chinese semiconductor device company wanted to reduce or remove its reliance on paper-based historical records; it was spending excessive time verifying manually collected data and tracking production units through the production process. ALP Controls helped the customer with its Manufacturing Intelligence Project that uses the Opcenter MES functionality to create digital history records (DHRs). Using DHRs enabled the customer to reduce the amount of manual verification required to establish product quality. It also enhanced traceability throughout production and increased robust quality analysis, improving final product quality.

Implementing company-wide data sharing

A leading company in agricultural industrialization operating in the Chinese market faced difficulties accessing data throughout the production process. This inflated costs and extended product cycles because necessary analysis couldn’t be performed until after production was complete. ALP Controls concluded that sharing all real-time data throughout the company would eliminate information silos – information management systems that are unable to integrate with other systems – and increase visibility into the production process. ALP Controls leveraged the Opcenter MES functionality for production management, plant modeling and equipment management to provide deeper insight into production. This enabled the company to identify potential issues in advance and created a smoother development and manufacturing processes. Using Opcenter enhanced transparency; The client optimized their production processes, shrinking product cycles and lowering costs.

ALP Controls plans to leverage the Siemens Xcelerator business platform to provide increasingly specialized support for clients’ needs. It intends to continue promoting digitalization in the Greater China region, improving data visibility through production and helping clients reduce costs and improve time-to-market. Yao Zhongxu, vice general manager of ALP Controls concludes, “Siemens helped us establish a benchmark demonstration for our industrial-leading customers, as well as advanced project management experience and industrial barrier breaking strategies. We can now play a leading role in industrial empowerment.”
