Beijing BTG Tech (BTG Tech) is a Chinese company founded in 2003 that provides data acquisition, analysis equipment and software and sensor testing services. BTG Tech aims to provide customers with testing and analysis services.. The company’s engineering experts leverage high tech equipment to deliver customers comprehensive noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) testing.

BTG Tech specializes in using Simcenter™ testing solutions software, which is part of the Siemens Xcelerator business platform of software, hardware and services. Customers previously purchased and implemented testing products themselves. Now, many companies do not know how to fully leverage data to streamline their research and development (R&D) processes even with the right testing solutions. As a result, these companies look to providers that offer long-term technical support in addition to software.

BTG Tech has earned Siemens Expert Partner status by specializing in Simcenter testing solutions to offer its customers more comprehensive support capabilities. Siemens Digital Industries Software recognizes partners that demonstrate expertise in its solutions. These Siemens Expert Partners are validated by customers and Siemens for demonstrating their business and technical acumen.

As a Siemens Expert Partner, BTG Tech understands the complexities of testing. In addition to providing Simcenter testing solutions, BTG Tech helps customers select and install sensors and prepare testing equipment. BTG Tech also assists with setting test parameters and showing customers how to analyze and use test results to improve designs.

Using Simcenter testing solutions for NVH testing

Many automotive factories perform NVH tests to meet national and industrial standards to improve passenger comfort. BTG Tech uses the flexibility and scalability of Simcenter testing solutions to provide customers with extensive support for NVH testing. After customers solve their NVH challenges, they can implement additional modules to perform fatigue or strength tests without substantial hardware changes or multiple software programs. BTG Tech approaches each Simcenter testing implementation with scalability while keeping future testing needs in mind.

“Siemens products are reliable and scalable and have provided support for our customers in the R&D verification process, greatly improving efficiency,” says Zhao Wei, general manager at BTG Tech. “Moreover, the products are multifunctional, meaning we can solve all the problems customers typically face in performance testing within one system.”

Using Simcenter testing solutions to reduce generator noise by 20 percent

A wind turbine manufacturer faced challenges relating to generator noise and mechanical structures. Excessive noise from a generator indicates faults in the mechanical structure, making the product more likely to break down and reduce its service life. The company needed to implement more rigorous testing procedures to ensure that new products would not encounter the same issues.

A BTG Tech customer that had also faced NVH issues recommended BTG Tech to the wind turbine manufacturer. After extensive consultation, BTG Tech identified the need for comprehensive NVH, strain, strength and fatigue testing. It suggested using a combination of Simcenter Testlab™ software and Simcenter SCADAS™ hardware to provide thorough testing while staying within the customer’s budget.

BTG Tech recommended a token implementation system for the testing software that led the customer to use required functions in rotation as products went through various stages of testing. This approach helped the customer realize efficient in-house testing while keeping costs low.

Using Simcenter Testlab and Simcenter SCADAS helped reduce generator noise by 20 percent and critically extended its generators’ service life by 10 percent.

“We received support from Siemens technical teams during the project implementation as they shared their knowledge from successful projects,” says Wei. “In addition, Siemens products are technically strong and capable of helping our customers overcome their challenges. This is something that competing brands cannot do.”

Improving R&D efficiency

BTG Tech believes that R&D processes will continue to evolve, combining testing and simulation to improve efficiency. In the past, completed designs underwent computer model simulation and then physical testing. In the future, BTG Tech expects simulation and testing to occur concurrently with the design process, significantly improving R&D efficiency and reducing the need for physical prototypes.

The company has already seen cases where manufacturers only physically test 50 prototype vehicles, compared to the 300 previously required. Using Simcenter testing solutions will also continue to help companies develop more robust R&D process management. BTG Tech has already helped customers reduce their R&D costs by up to 8 percent using stringent process management and synchronous comparison of simulation and physical testing.
