Using Simcenter improves testing scalability

A semiconductor testing company experienced challenges managing increased demand for thermal reliability testing. The company approached BasiCAE because it was aware of its history of working with semiconductor companies that needed help with thermal reliability testing. Its Siemens Expert Partner status and experience providing after-sales service helped secure the relationship. BasiCAE recommended using Simcenter Micred T3STER to assess semiconductor package thermal structures and identify manufacturing defects. BasiCAE also delivered testing hardware to help improve scalability and expedited the implementation period by providing technical services using its testing labs. After fully implementing Simcenter Micred in its testing process, the customer scaled quickly and increased its testing potential. Although it had previously been limited in its test offerings, conducting testing in-house enabled the customer to expand its services, including the ability to fulfill orders for chip thermal resistance tests and insulated-gate bipolar transistor (IGBT) power cycle tests.

Conducting in-house thermal testing reduces costs

Another semiconductor company focusing on the research and development (R&D) of new products outsourced testing to third-party organizations that was costly and time-consuming.
